ViewCast Helps Dallas Church Broadcast Christmas Service Live on Internet

Lovers Lane United Methodist Church Chooses Niagara(R) PowerStream(TM) Pro

DALLAS — Dec. 22, 2005 — Some members of the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church will participate in its "Silent Night" contemporary Christmas worship service this year without actually being there. Thanks to Dallas-based ViewCast Corporation (OTCBB:VCST - News), the church will broadcast the service live over the Internet, reaching out to its widespread congregation in an unprecedented manner.

The church will use ViewCast's Niagara PowerStream Pro streaming video encoders and Osprey streaming video cards to capture video content, encode it and deliver it live via the Web.

The service, which includes music by American Idol finalist Jeffery Johnson, will be available on the church's Web site (www.llumc.org or www.wannaknowwhy.com) for those who are unable to attend in person. The PowerStream Pro also archives the service for future "on-demand" broadcasts to members who can't view the live event.

"Our congregation is very well-traveled, and as a result, their children live around the world. The PowerStream Pro allows us to reach them in a cost-effective manner," said Christy Thomas, associate pastor, Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas. "A large number of our members also have military family and friends in Iraq, and Web-streaming is one way these isolated parishioners can stay in touch with their local church."

The Lovers Lane church decided to adopt the encoder after a trial run last week. The installation, on Dec. 20, took less than an hour from start to finish.

"A church's Web site is often its first interface with future members. People want to get to know the people and services behind the institution before joining it and we're pleased we can play a role. Our streaming services and products help knock down the 'unknown' barrier as well as allow churches to reach out to existing members across time and distance," said Dave Stoner, president and COO of ViewCast.
