ViewCast to Stage Wireless Streaming Demonstration at NAB 2004
with Intel’s Mobile Phone Chipset

Niagara Streaming Systems Encode & Serve MPEG-4 Windows Media to Mobile Devices

At NAB 2004 ViewCast's Niagara PowerStream and Niagara 5200 streaming server will demonstrate delivering streaming video to mobile/handheld devices that utilize the Intel® PXA27x processor family, based on Intel XScale® technology, along with the new Intel® 2700G multimedia accelerator.

This demonstration will take place at ViewCast’s booth #SL3621 on April 19-22, at NAB 2004 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Wireless and mobile video is the next major breakthrough in video communications technology for delivering entertainment, sports, advertising, news and education content. Streaming to handheld devices, wireless networks and cellular phones is a significant untapped market for broadcasters and content owners. This presentation will validate the technology and demonstrate its broad applications in this emerging market.

Mobile device technologies are developing at such a rapid pace they are increasingly viable options for content delivery and can now be used for receiving and viewing digital files and video streams.

“We are pleased to have ViewCast join our Early Access Program,” said Mel Laird, general manager, Software Enabling Division, Intel Corporation. “ViewCast is a welcomed addition to the group of software companies that we are enabling to develop applications.”

The technology demonstration will consist of the Niagara PowerStream in the booth encoding live material to MPEG 4 video in Windows Media format and delivering the material via an 802.11b wireless network to various handheld devices. The mobile devices will access the live material, as well as on-demand material, through a Web-based interface with Windows Media Player.

In addition to MPEG-4, the Niagara streaming systems support encoding of Windows Media 9 and RealVideo® 10.

ViewCast Introduces First Streaming Capture Card That Combines Analog and DV Capture for Under $500
New Osprey®-300 addresses both streaming and video editing applications

ViewCast is very pleased to announced the coming release of the latest addition to the Osprey Video streaming capture card family, the Osprey-300.

The Osprey-300 marks ViewCast's introduction into the nonlinear editing market. The Osprey-300 combines the quality and superiority of the industry-leading Osprey video streaming capture cards with the features of a standard IEEE 1394b card, creating a quality digital video (DV) capture card with full device control capability.

The new Osprey card will be available in May of 2004.

The Osprey-300 is a price/performance breakthrough. It essentially delivers two cards for the price of one and then offering the Osprey-300 bundled with the industry-leading creative software, all at an extremely attractive price. For media production teams it means optimization of streaming time in the post-production process, much more efficient use of editing equipment, and assurance of the high integrity of the original video images.

Built on the video streaming and high-performance features of the Osprey-230, the Osprey-300 adds OHCI-compliancy (IEEE-1394) for video capture. The OHCI (Open Host Controller Interface) compliant IEEE-1394 standard allows users to transfer DV material into an editing system in its native DV format while maintaining original source quality and optimizing the workflow for post-production houses. The PCI-X bus interface provides compatibility with the latest PC technologies, delivering high-performance/high-bandwidth data transfers.
