Niagara PowerStream Pro Elevates the Streaming Workflow for Broadcast Professionals
ViewCast is excited to announce a new addition to its Niagara line of streaming encoders!

The Niagara PowerStream Pro is a high-performance video capture and streaming encoder specifically designed to meet the needs of professional broadcasters. The Niagara PowerStream Pro features a rack-mounted, console-free design that can be remotely monitored, managed, and controlled via any IP-networked workstation.

The Niagara PowerStream Pro can be used by professional studios, cable head ends, ISPs, and enterprise IT professionals. Applications for the Niagara PowerStream Pro include IP-TV, webcasting, video archiving, and video content creation or repurposing for Web, business, and training.

With the input of broadcast and other industry professionals in the design process, the Niagara PowerStream Pro encoder is an appliance that meets the broadcaster's operation needs, said George Platt , president and CEO of ViewCast. Easier live and delayed webcasting capabilities, as well as new closed-caption extraction for HTML archival search features make this a very robust solution for broadcasters. The PowerStream Pro integrates with editing, automation and content management systems to deliver breaking news stories and local sporting events live.

The Niagara PowerStream Pro offers broadcasters and webcasters a more flexible and robust solution for managing and distributing video content. The 2U, rack-mount encoder accepts analog and digital video inputs that can store captured video to a network hard drive or stream it to a server or media distribution service via its two built-in 1-GHz TCP/IP network ports. A variety of video formats are supported: AVI, Flash, RealVideo, and Windows Media. At the core of the PowerStream Pro are ViewCast's industry-leading Osprey video capture cards, which allow users to capture and digitize full-motion video.

As an appliance, the PowerStream Pro provides a more convenient way to monitor video signals through fully featured user controls on the front panel. A video confidence monitor displays the signal being fed to the encoder with right and left audio level meters for each separate channel. Alarm and status lights across the front panel provide visual indicators, allowing quick and easy troubleshooting in large arrays of streaming media encoders.

The PowerStream Pro can stream to any IP-networked device laptop, desktop, or workstation, as well as handheld and wireless devices. And with ViewCast's SchedulStream software, which comes standard with the Pro, complex webcasting schedules can be mapped out in advance.
